Jumps Racing

Jumps racing is currently a hot topic with many groups pushing for it to be banned in Victoria. Jumps racing frequently results in horses having to be put down which has animal rights groups furious. The Industry itself is declining with less horses and trainers taking part, this needs to go one step further and be banned all together. People may argue and say jumps racing keeps horses out of the knackery however the amount of horses regularly racing in Victoria is only 46, which wouldn’t be hard to find more suitable homes for.

At the Pettle organisation we strongly support the welfare of all animals and jumps racing puts horses in unnecessary danger where they are  frequently put down. Looking at the statistics one in every 135 starters has to be put down which is a horrible statistic.
